"Ding!" Im done already!

Date of Occurrence: Thursday November 4, 2011

This little one is stubborn.
A few days ago I had a moment and then late towards the hours of 10pm I started to get some strong contractions.  Let me just say now that they were coming more and stronger however, I was still able to move and talk.(which should have been a dead give away)  But this is me here, an elephant, desperate, jogging in my own house in the early hours, angry ma ma bear!  I just want her out! I will do WHATEVER it takes! and then on the other hand I also want her to come when she is ready.(when in the back of my head im secretly willing her to come out)

So its now 12am.  There I try to remain calm and lie down in my bed.  Sean is already asleep and I don't want to disturb him with my painful moans.  I start to count sheep in my head trying to pass the pain and succeed to Sleepland.  Of course, @ 2am i am woken by the (now getting stronger) contractions.  Thought it was amazing i slept through anything at all.

I roll over like a tub of lard throw myself out of bed, alert and feeling the pressure(double meaning), I just start chucking all my needed belongings into a night bag.  Mental noted: "don't forget your make up bag like you did with the 1st child".  Just kinda kept walking the house and 3 am comes.  Call the on-call doctor and let him know what was going on.  He said if I felt like it was time that I could come in.  I took those words and ran with them!  (Remember, this is me, a desperate cow ready to birth her calf)

Called up Nancy and told her it was time.  She packed up and was at our house close to 4am.  I remember her coming through the front door and shooting me questioning looks like "You're in labor? really?"

I ignored them cause I was just hoping so badly that this was it even if that meant i wouldn't have her till that night.

So there we are, He: getting the car packed to the rim with everything a prego ever needed in a hospital. Her: ever so elated for this day to have finally come and eagerly breathing through the pain.  Before this point I had already taken the liberty to call my mother to let her know of the situation.(in case she wanted to come to the birth i guess.) And now I felt like every piece was in place...all I lack now is a baby..."Oh Please, Father, let this be it!"

As were driving to the Hospital in the dark cold hours of winter's morning, I held Sean's big plastic cup in my hand containing ice chunks for me to nibble on.  We held hands.  It was a nice drive...almost too nice.  It was then that I had a flicker of a thought that this might not be it.  But i swiftly pushed that thought aside and prayed to the Father that she would come today and told my body "keep em' comin'!"  It came to my realization that the contractions were getting further and further apart while being less painful.  But I had already convinced myself that even if she wasn't coming during the day...she'll surely be here by night.  So I allowed Sean to think we were still having this baby today.  We went through all the motions: sat and registered in, got ourselves a curtain room, got into a gown, strapped monitors onto my belly, and waited out the contractions.  But as we waited... the contractions were still present and some were definitely stronger than others.... so we very well could be having this baby today...it was kinda up in the air at this point.

They wheeled me into a different room because the one we were put in didn't have a working computer.  I didnt like this room-it had no window and it was half the size of the first, and the lighting made me feel uneasy...i didn't like it one bit.  The nurse comes in and gets some info from us and starts the monitoring process.  After 45 minutes she comes back in.  She and I kinda already know what shes about to say.  But I swallowed in hopes that something...just maybe something would have caught her attention and that i needed to stay and continued to be monitored.  But it was inevitable.  The contractions were undeniably there but they were decreasing in time and strength.  I watched the monitor tell of my fate with the hills getting smaller and smaller.  she shrugged and said it just wasn't enough.  Perhaps waiting it out at home was a better option.

I looked over at Sean with pending tears in my eyes and a hard lump manifesting in my throat as the nurse left the room to dismiss us.  I didn't want to fathom that right now just wasn't the time, let alone the day for Her arrival.  It just sucks!  Not only are you physically preparing for a little human to come into this world but you are also mentally preparing yourself to see that new baby in your arms.  And to know that that reality was no more, it put quite a damper in my spirits.

I remember us pulling out of the hospital, turning at the light and getting onto the freeway heading with my head hung low, with no baby to show, back home.  Sean tried to give me words of love and hope and I thank him for that but it just was fact and now i had to force myself to rewind.  Rewind back to the pregnant women who sticks out-to-here and its just us three.  The fact: no baby coming today, because by the time we reached home, the contractions were no more.

So, in the end, it was all a "false alarm"

36 weeks, 4 to go

So as we are nearing the end its been rather difficult to do daily things.  Such as anything with a sink(washing hands, etc).  The belly has become preventative now.  Some things include:
  • holding M
  •  seeing spilt food upon shirt
  •  joy of marriage
  •  dish washing
  •  about every clothing item
  •  cooking on stovetop
  • any counter really
  • enjoying church

WARNING: (Turn away now if you don't want to bother with my pregnancy at this point)

This is starting to wear on me.  The pains aren't helping either.  A week or so ago I began feeling the aches in my "butt bones" as I tend to call them.  Doc says that is the norm; bones moving to make way for baby's passage.  You'd think i would remember these details from my last pregnancy but ironically im don't.

My right side of belly is bigger than my left. This is due to her normal position in my belly; with her butt and feet next to my right ribs. Oh, did I mention they ache too?  She tends to like kicking/tickling that side alot...its REALLY annoying.  I remember at this point in my pregnancy with M that my belly visibly became lop-sided.  Well so be it with this one too.  My belly no longer resembles the perfect round basket ball...its more of an egg shape. :o(
I waddle too. Yup, just like penguins do.  Its embarrassing but Tin man kind of walks the same way...and i do feel a lot like Tin man with all me rusted hinges en' all!  And don't get me started on the tail bone! Ooooooh it hurts. It hurts! Its starting to feel like I have an abscess on it...like its swollen er something.

The turkey timer is still as protruding as ever.(AKA belly button).  I hate it.  I feel like im exposing something that shouldn't be exposed.  Its kinda the feeling when yr woo whoos get hard and you notice them through your shirt. Yeah, embarrassing right?! (sigh) But hey, at least soon that will be the least of my problems.
Im starting to get excited about her being here and getting back to my norm again...but with that also comes the realization that life as I know it will never be the same.  All my current freedoms, gone.  I don't think Im ready for that yet...so I try to be happy with the aches/pains/lack of sleep/killing feet/ fat appearance/40 xtra lbs/exhaustion/and anemia.  Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, I am anemic again.  Darn too! Cause I thought I was getting away with it this time.  My glucose came back normal but not my iron. Can't win em' all i guess. However, I do have to note that it has not been nearly as bad as I was expecting.  I am not nearly as tired as I was with M.

This baby has had a noted growth spurt.  On a Thursday my uterus measured 26 weeks perfectly on the dot. Came in the following Tuesday with an issue and my uterus measured 28 weeks. YIKES! I knew i wasn't crazy...I was sure my stretch marks were way more itchy.
My ankles and feet for the past 2 weeks have begun retaining water. Up until a few days ago my back hadn't hurt...now its at a subtle constant ache.
I've begun the midnight wakes with feeling like I can't breath.  I just sit up a bit, regain my steady breathing, and lie back down again.  Ain't no lie, its crowded in there.
     Preparing

As of late, my favorite things to do is Yardsale-ing(yardsaling, yard sale ing...aw whatever).  Getting up super early sat morning and driving around to all the local yardsales looking for good finds.  Do I dare share my findings? Okay, why not.
    •  2 three-legged round tables for $2.00
    • Gucci purse for $4.00 (its fake but I love it!)
    • 2 shirts for $1.50
    • spool of red satin ribbon .50cents
    • new glue gun .25cents
    •  new lawn chair $1.00
    •  lampshade to replace my broken one $1.00
    • electric sander for $3
It all started with this need to find a bookshelf for the baby's room and the table...which i got.  I've seen many yardsales with those darn plasterboard shelves but I wanted something sturdy and real.  Something  belly high and about 1 1/2yards across.  I need it to store stuff in the nursery:.  Heres an example:

I did see a changing table...but it was in poor condition and would have been difficult to sand. Those do have some shelf space on them but the rest is worthless since I can't change babies perpendicularly. Do you or anyone you know have a bookshelf they don't want or could part with for a few bucks??? I need one quick.  My new sander would come in handy...can't wait to use it!
I finally figured and bought the paint for the baby's room!  Thats a big step for me. . Now just painting it.  And i've got to get on the ball.  M came on the day i turned 37 weeks.  So Im thinking I'd better get into gear.  I don't think she'll be coming like M did...just because I have not lost any plug nor have I been nesting.  However Im not due till November but I do feel like she may be here before Halloween.  Or maybe in the back of my mind Im just wishing.
