Logan

(later after my visit with my uncle) We drove up to Logan to visit Serena and her family. She was so excited to have us visit and see her new(new to her) home. Built in the 1920's I might add. And what a huge lot they live on, and acre and half along with a big creek out back. Its an long old home with great character. Call me weird of I love the smell of old...with the exception of the elderly and spoils. A splash of color along the side of which she despises and I admire the sweetest addition to an already sweet family Father daughter shot this great old gate with path...oh i love it of course this great shed along the side of the home I guess you can just say I adore the 'old' Thanks for welcoming us in, we fully enjoyed it.

Uncle Byron

(another event in Utah)...
I don't know what it is about my uncle, whom I know so very little about, that makes me enjoy his company so much. That makes me just want to give him the biggest hug and a kiss on the cheek. He is just a sweet man. And to be honest he is actually my dad's uncle so that would make him my Great Uncle. ah, same difference-to me.
Reason I mention is because during our trip I finally put my foot down and told my husband that "I" wanted to see my family too in Utah. In the past four years of marriage we've had: Three families move to Utah, two unpleasant incidences, One unhappy wife, and zero No-Go's for my family. And He wasn't just any relative but One of familiarity and an echo within my childhood memories. Oh I could go on about my memories of the backyard's Mountains and Gazebo and playhouse and weird-upside left-carousel-thing. The smell of flowers, lush green vegetation, white clouded snow, and bottle rockets. OH those bottle rockets...how I wish we had some of those on the 4th of July.
Well, fortunately for Moi AND my husband's Life at stake, we took an hour and half drive to North Ogden to visit my uncle. In the back of my mind I was excited to see him and hopefully aunt Cathy too. I could already picture the house, us driving up to it and the bloated pine tree in front. Nervous butterflies filled my stomach. I was always the baby of the family and nowadays Im a wife and a mother...how will he react to me? What will he be thinking of me? Will I always be that child he's always known me to be? Reminesting, I snapped out feeling so grown up now.
(Uncle Byron's house)
BUT...I, Me, the youngest, now married with my OWN family, sought out my "Dad's" uncle, wishing to see him. ??? Will we leave him feeling Odd about the whole meetin'? So many questions, thoughts ran through me but nevertheless excitement and longing.
Excited and anxious, I was able to enjoy the character driving up Washington street. Ogden has some neat things to look at, for me anyway. But just as we arrived in N. Ogden and I didn't think i could be anymore happier...suddenly a familiar house along the highway caught my eye-nearly missing it as we passed I suddenly yelped, startling the Hubs. "Oh My goodness, that's my great grandmother's house!"
This teeny duplex once housed my ever so delicate Great grandmother and even More delicate husband. As a child, her china dolls and tea cups adorning her walls kept my attention. Along with her vintage magnetic dancing music box with two tiny ice skaters gliding along the top. I still treasure that moment when she gave to me her "Fly me to the Moon" music box which still to this day sits atop my bookshelf in my old room.
(this here is the backyard/creek of which many memories float)
After some time later(i have horrible direction) we pulled up into his driveway. M however decided she was exhausted and passed out in the car. Introductions took place and for M's sake we sat outside under the front porch overlooking Ogden. We just chatted about his children and our family life....some politics and old school talk. Mr. F and I sure enjoyed our 45 minute chat with him. We laughed and reminest. He politely allowed me to revisit his backyard for memories sake. All I could do was take in all in and breath. It was so beautiful. Im kicking myself now for not taking a picture of the backyard. Speaking of forgetfulness, as we all needed to go about our ways for the remainder of the day. We got in our car and he got in his and just as we were pulling out I got out, ran to my Uncle and begged if I may snap a picture. I was not going to leave from having come all this way and never getting a picture with him. I forbade it! Thank you sweet Byron...we really enjoyed getting to know you better.

A happy occasion

Having family in town is a pleasure. I've especially had my share of fun with my sister-in-law Serena and her new baby. Today they blessed their sweet little girl named Lillian aka Lily. And this is the first white dress of her entire life.
...at the end of everything...its always refreshing to take off those itchy clothes.
this kiddo is making me baby hungry...i could just gobble her up. XO

R.I.P.

'nough said. *due to a 10 hour drive to Utah.

Thursday Part one

A few Thursdays ago, amid the Utah, SLC region, we took an additional drive(2hrs) to visit Sean's dad. It was mine and M's first time meeting his wife. They hold such a pleasant little home there of the mountains attire. I could only imagine how beautiful it must be to look upon them amid Utah's winters. I amid my envy openly.
We sat and visited a while accompanied by Elizabeth's family. Later, after a few Frisbees were thrown, we headed out to a quaint shop nearby for some home style lunch. The Grist Mill holds their own bakery right there down below the shop. Two slices of homemade bread binding your turkey breast and cheese sandwich just hit the spot. But of course you cannot forget the Mayo. Like I've said" a sandwich isn't a sandwich without Mayo!"
We were able to cram ourselves just enough space to seat everyone of us. I was glad, for I was never the first to raise my hand for Taco bell. Bla! gag me.(sorry Taco bell lovers) And I am very happy to announce that for the first time in my life I had my very own scone! Not just any scone but a peach scone. But of course it just wouldn't be like me to leave all of the filling inside...i always end up scooping most of it out before i've devoured. Oh and by the way, It Was Delicious! I recommend trying one someday. To eat a scone is really nothing-out-of-the-ordinary kind of experience , just one more thing i can check off.
We ate. We full. We Play, "off to the Park" they said.
A few tosses of the Frisbee here and there. A few clicks here and there. And Sean running into a stationary cable line knocking himself flat to the ground...you've got yourself some memories. Apparently, when you're preoccupied catching a Frisbee you aren't always aware of your surroundings. (snort, snort) It was pretty hilarious. I just wish I had paid better attention long enough to shout " WATCH OUT FOR THAT.........TReeee...(i mean) WIRE!" But as for M and I, we played on the swings.

Oh, Deer!

A familiar deer visited oft her own little forest amid the S family's yard. Living on a large lot in Utah created a comfortable environment for this doe. For just one deer. Until one day, then there were three. Out from behind the landscaping and pine tree peeped 2 pairs of baby deer eyes. The mother deer had given birth right there in a humans backyard. Odd as it seems, the mother deer must have felt the safety and security of the yard was a good place to raise her little family. It was on Father's Day then, Now its July and the two baby deer still live amongst the humans. Meaning the little rascals we call kids. After all a backyard is a place for us parents to rid ourselves of their soundtrack. But Why, I ask, would a mother deer find this to be the best for her youngens? Who knows, but for now we'll enjoy the little family's presence. Here he is playing with the neighbor's chicken He came to investigate me...I am happy to say I sought the deer and was able to get the closest w/o startling! Ain't he so sweet?! can you believe it, look how close he is to me! Who can say they've been THIS close to a wild baby deer?! who lived to tell the tale! The boy deer was more adventurous and daring...his little sister, not so much. It was a pleasant treat for me in Utah.
