(another event in Utah)...
I don't know what it is about my uncle, whom I know so very little about, that makes me enjoy his company so much. That makes me just want to give him the biggest hug and a kiss on the cheek. He is just a sweet man. And to be honest he is actually my dad's uncle so that would make him my Great Uncle. ah, same difference-to me.
Reason I mention is because during our trip I finally put my foot down and told my husband that "I" wanted to see my family too in Utah. In the past four years of marriage we've had: Three families move to Utah, two unpleasant incidences, One unhappy wife, and zero No-Go's for my family. And He wasn't just any relative but One of familiarity and an echo within my childhood memories. Oh I could go on about my memories of the backyard's Mountains and Gazebo and playhouse and weird-upside left-carousel-thing. The smell of flowers, lush green vegetation, white clouded snow, and bottle rockets. OH those bottle rockets...how I wish we had some of those on the 4th of July.
Well, fortunately for Moi AND my husband's Life at stake, we took an hour and half drive to North Ogden to visit my uncle. In the back of my mind I was excited to see him and hopefully aunt Cathy too. I could already picture the house, us driving up to it and the bloated pine tree in front. Nervous butterflies filled my stomach. I was always the baby of the family and nowadays Im a wife and a mother...how will he react to me? What will he be thinking of me? Will I always be that child he's always known me to be? Reminesting, I snapped out feeling so grown up now.
(Uncle Byron's house)
BUT...I, Me, the youngest, now married with my OWN family, sought out my "Dad's" uncle, wishing to see him. ??? Will we leave him feeling Odd about the whole meetin'? So many questions, thoughts ran through me but nevertheless excitement and longing.
Excited and anxious, I was able to enjoy the character driving up Washington street. Ogden has some neat things to look at, for me anyway. But just as we arrived in N. Ogden and I didn't think i could be anymore happier...suddenly a familiar house along the highway caught my eye-nearly missing it as we passed I suddenly yelped, startling the Hubs. "Oh My goodness, that's my great grandmother's house!"

This teeny duplex once housed my ever so delicate Great grandmother and even More delicate husband. As a child, her china dolls and tea cups adorning her walls kept my attention. Along with her vintage magnetic dancing music box with two tiny ice skaters gliding along the top. I still treasure that moment when she gave to me her "Fly me to the Moon" music box which still to this day sits atop my bookshelf in my old room.
(this here is the backyard/creek of which many memories float)
After some time later(i have horrible direction) we pulled up into his driveway. M however decided she was exhausted and passed out in the car. Introductions took place and for M's sake we sat outside under the front porch overlooking Ogden. We just chatted about his children and our family life....some politics and old school talk. Mr. F and I sure enjoyed our 45 minute chat with him. We laughed and reminest. He politely allowed me to revisit his backyard for memories sake. All I could do was take in all in and breath. It was so beautiful. Im kicking myself now for not taking a picture of the backyard.
Speaking of forgetfulness, as we all needed to go about our ways for the remainder of the day. We got in our car and he got in his and just as we were pulling out I got out, ran to my Uncle and begged if I may snap a picture. I was not going to leave from having come all this way and never getting a picture with him. I forbade it!

Thank you sweet Byron...we really enjoyed getting to know you better.
